Jay - In @abnerg's photo http://twitpic.com/26zv0 - that's Dave on the right w/o shades and me on the left. And no, we didn't plan on the same shade of green, nor it is an EMC uniform ;-)
Nice write up from San Jose on your blog.
@stu

hey Jay,

yup, I'm the hairier one of the St. Patty's day EMC twins. (Stu is the other one...) ;)

I'm probably going to go back and edit some of what I wrote again on Monday...my notes were from the #IDC twitter stream that I'm found in. Gens did exposit a little on hybrid clouds, but I thought Villars and the guy (sorry, can't remember off the top of my head) in the session before, did a more pointed job of looking at hybridization. Then again, this IS my memory we have to deal with. ;)

thanks for the comment! I'll be holding a CloudCall on Monday, March 23rd that will discuss Cisco's UCS and it's implications for private/public clouds. Hope to hear from you again!

cheers,

Dave

I take it you are one of the folks that @abnerg described as the St. Patty's day EMC twins. :^) I, too, see the private cloud as a nice way to bridge what's possible today (though with a new way to manage and use the infrastructure you have) with what'll be increasingly possible to do with an external cloud in the future.

In the SJ Directions, Gens definitely mentioned that the CIO will have (and will want to have) public, private, hybrid clouds all in his/her arsenal eventually. Carr actually was the one who talked about internal clouds as a good way to transition.

I didn't do a write-up on the "year of the sales rep" stuff from San Jose, but here are my notes on the data center and cloud-related sessions from there in case it's of interest: http://is.gd/m0KV
